Work in progress of my MaKorra art. They are too cute! I can’t get enough of this series.
I’m all for Mako and Korra, but it does break my heart each time Bolin expresses any interest in the Avatar.
The finished version of this drawing is going to animate. It’s been a while since I’ve done one of those, so this is very exciting! You can see the finished product in the near future (or right now, if you’re reading this in the near future) on my Deviantart page.

Catherine is mastering the element of water. She was born with the power to control water, but spends more time being controlled by it.
In other news, I wanted to address my recent Disney experience, to kind of clear the air. I got a lot of questions from people asking about what happened/why I didn’t win, so I just wanted to say something briefly about it, and explain the situation.
As some of you might remember, I spent the past couple of weeks rallying people to vote for me in a contest run by the Disney Store. Five finalists were chosen from all of the entries, and people had to vote for their favorite design, and the winner would have their shirt on Disney Store shelves. I did everything in my power, as did my friends and fans, to get votes. I posted it everywhere I could, and had the news spread on Twitter, Youtube, Deviantart, etc…I think everyone worked really hard to help me win. I accumulated thousands of votes during the duration of the contest. After voting officially closed last week, I held first place. In the end, first place was handed to another contestant. Nothing was publicly announced regarding this decision, and it caused a lot of confusion amongst my voters. I was deeply hurt by the shocking new winner announcement. I went from the biggest high to feeling terribly deflated and cheated.
It’s simple, really. We, the contestants, pretty much signed away our rights. Disney had the legal chance to alter any of the votes and announce whoever they wanted as the final winner. They declared some votes “invalid,” and sorted “valid” and “invalid” votes without any notification to us as to what was going on. Legal? Yes. Fair? No. But life isn’t exactly fair.
A lot of you have reached out to me asking if there is something you can do to help change the results and/or the situation. I’d like to discourage you from trying to contact the Disney Store on my behalf. (I know many of you already have.) The results are not going to change. I was initially upset with the situation, but everyone has been extremely supportive and now it’s yesterday’s news. I was surprised to receive so many emails and messages about it. People who I don’t even know, but took the time to vote for me daily, reached out to offer words of wisdom and comfort. I am so grateful for how kind you have been to me through this grueling process.
I thank you all for voting and for working so hard for me. I’m sorry that things turned out the way they did, but there is nothing we can do. I hope you know that your support means the world to me, and that is the main thing that I’ve extracted from the situation. My supporters are amazing, and no one can take that from me.

Another can’t-sleep-late-night-doodle, and not my best slap-in-the-face drawing. I have this tendency to draw in the dark…that can’t be good for my art…or my eyes…

I don’t know what’s going on with this dress, but I was enjoying the smooth creamy feel of my colored pencils so much – I just kept drawing stuff. Catherine, what are you wearing?! Your dress swallowed a lamp shade!

Alec makes crazy faces. I also end up making his eyebrows thicker each time I draw them…The personality is all in the eyebrows!

Alec generally doesn’t emote beyond his sly smile and devious one-eyebrow-schtick, so drawing a sad, helpless Alec is actually refreshing. Hm, what could he be upset about…?

Catherine (well, “boy-Catherine”) gets a surprise greeting from Alec.

When was the last time I updated my blog? I have so much art to post here, I would love to revive my blog this season. I went off and joined tumblr, and have this odd guilty feeling that I cheated on WordPress. I still heart you, WordPress. You are so much easier to use! WP has posts solely dedicated to work-in-progress art, while tumblr will have mostly finished artwork. I think some WP followers might not realize that I don’t plan on posting finished work here. I have the final pieces on so many other websites, including my portfolio, so this blog is more about the raw process of my drawings, and less about the final work. I apologize if you were expecting something more dazzling here.

Anyway, I have a LOT of Alec and Catherine stuff to catch you all up on. The comic now has a temporary title: Hero of Agarin, which is not the final title yet, but I needed something. I will be referring to it as just “Hero,” because the rest of the title is changing on a monthly basis. So, more to come real soon!

Phineas and Ferb Doodles

Doodled some Phineas and Ferb while the little girl I was babysitting was watching it. This is a pretty sloppy page of doodles, but I tried to capture the characters on paper as quickly as possible. Looking back, there are so many errors in hair and clothes, but oh well, twas fun!
Sorry for total lack of blog updates. I was traveling all January and directing an event for a client, so I was a bit MIA. I wanted to cover some of my trip in this blog, so perhaps I’ll do that soon!
