I have a confession: I hate, HATE making cake pops. Even though I ran a home bakery for a while (you can still see some of my fun desserts over on the Desert Flours Instagram account) I would only make cake pops if one of my customers was a friend and in desperate need LOL. Otherwise I would direct them over to one of my other baking buddies. I don't know what it is, but I just have a super hard time making cake pops. However, I adore bite sized cute desserts, so when I discovered how easy making pie pops is, I was all for it!

Plus these jack-o-lantern pumpkin pie pops are such a fun Halloween recipe!

Jack-o-lantern Pie Pops Materials:

To make these Jack-o-lantern pumpkin pie pops, you'll need a few pieces of equipment besides your ingredients. Here's what you'll need:

• Pie Pops Maker (I use this one by BabyCakes)
• hand mixer
• mixing bowl
• pastry brush
• treat sticks
• treat bags
• orange and black baker's twine
• black permanent marker

Pumpkin Pie Pops Recipe

To get started, you'll need to whip up your pumpkin pie filling. Don't you just love the smell of pumpkin?

Besides pumpkin puree, you'll also need eggs, brown sugar, a pinch of salt, pumpkin pie spice, and heavy cream. This pie filling ends up being my favorite color for fall.

These Halloween sweet treats are little, so half of a normal pumpkin pie filling recipe is more than enough to make 24 pie pops.

Your pie pop maker should come with a cutter that is a perfect size for making your pumpkin pie pops. Punch out 12 circles to make 6 pie pops at a time and set them aside while you whip up an egg wash and the pie pops maker heats up.

Bake your pumpkin pie pops for about 4 minutes and then check on them. They should be golden brown when they are ready. Just close the lid back until they are done.

You wouldn't eat a regular pie straight out of the oven and you shouldn't do that with these either. Remove your pumpkin pie pops from the maker and let them cool on a baking rack.

To turn these pumpkin pie pops into jack-o-lanterns use a black permanent marker to draw faces onto your treat bags. Then insert your cooled pie pops into the bags and tie a bow around the base with the black and orange baker's twine or another fun ribbon. Jute would look really cute too.

To serve these up at your Halloween party, fill a bucket or small pail with dried lentils, corn or beans to hold the treats in place.

I love these as a little bite of pumpkin pie goodness for your party. They are actually not as sweet as my usual desserts (I have a wicked sweet tooth) but they are so nice as a Halloween sweet treat during this season of the ultimate sugar rush.

Get ready for your Halloween party with this Halloween sweet treat recipe for jack-o-lantern pumpkin pie pops! They're so easy and a perfect mini bite for your dessert table.

Ingredients

• 1 cup pureed pumpkin
• 1/2 cup heavy whipping cream
• 2 eggs (1 for pie filling and 1 for the egg wash)
• 1/4 cup brown sugar
• 1/2 tsp pumpkin pie spice
• 1/8 tsp salt
• 1 package of refrigerated pie crust

Instructions

1. Combine 1 egg and brown sugar in your mixing bowl using an electric mixer.
2. Mix in your salt and pumpkin pie spice.
3. Add the pumpkin puree and heavy cream.
4. Whisk together your other egg in a separate bowl for the egg wash.
5. Use a small round pie cutter to cut out 12 circles to make 6 pie pops at a time.
6. Allow your pie pop maker to heat up.
7. Once ready, use a pastry brush to add a small amount of egg wash to each of 6 pie dough circles and place egg wash side down into the pie pop maker.
8. Add a small amount (about a teaspoon) of pumpkin pie filling to each mini pie circle.
9. Lay a treat stick into the pie filling of each pop.
10. Egg wash the remaining 6 pie dough circles and place egg wash side up onto the pie pops.
11. Close the lid of your pie pop maker and wait about 4 minutes.
12. Open the lid to see if your pumpkin pie pops are a golden brown. If not close the lid and check again in another 2 minutes.
13. Remove your pie pops from the maker and allow to cool on a cooling rack.
14. Draw some jack-o-lantern faces on treat bags and insert your cooled pumpkin pops into the bags. Tie with baker's twine.
