What is Sorbet?
Sorbet is a simple, light, refreshing treat and made with puree fruit and honey. No eggs or dairy are needed to make a sorbet. It is a cool, fruity and ingredients are mixed together for a fruity treat.
We love that there are many ways you can make sorbet. If you are looking for a dairy-free treat, make this easy dessert.
Ingredients:
- Raspberries, frozen
- Raw Honey
- Lemon, juiced
How to Make Raspberry Sorbet:
- Gather Frozen Raspberries – Make sure that the raspberries are completely frozen. If using fresh, freeze them overnight on a baking sheet.
- Add ingredients to blender – Then place the frozen raspberries, honey, and lemon juice in a blender. You may need to strain through fine mesh strainer to remove any seeds from the frozen fruit.
- Blend Ingredients – Blend until smooth and combined. If the ingredients are not combining well, add a small amount of warm water to combine all the ingredients.
- Add blended ingredients to loaf pan – Spread the mixture into a loaf pan, cover and freeze for at least 4 hours until firm.
- Serve and enjoy – I like to scoop about ¼ cup in a cute bowl and serve. The sorbet will keep covered in the freezer for up to 1 month.
What Makes Sorbet so Creamy?
Sorbet gets its creaminess from the sugar that is added and from the fruit. Since there is no egg or dairy added, making sure the right amount of sugar is added is important for the texture.
If you freeze freeze blended fruit or juice, then it would turn to a hardened black of ice crystals. So making sure you freeze quickly and blending the ingredients while frozen will keep it creamy.
Why is My Homemade Sorbet Icy?
The reason your sorbet is icy is because you may have added to much water out of your fruit. That is why it is important that your fruit is frozen. If you are using fresh fruit, make sure that you freeze it before blending.
You may need to add in some sugar to help with the icy texture with the sorbet.
Do I Need an Ice Cream Machine?
No, you don’t need a ice cream maker machine. This recipe requires only a blender or a food processor to mix the frozen ingredients.
Prepare the homemade sorbet by using slice berries and add to your high power blender and blend until smooth.
Variation Ideas:
- Change the fruit – You can use different types of fruit some of our favorites are cherry, grapefruit, peach, pineapple, and strawberry.
- Use Different Sweeteners – To make it sugar free, you can use powdered monk fruit Allulose blend.
- Making it thinner – If you prefer the sorbet a little thinner, you can add in some sugar and water.
- Savory Sorbet – Instead of fruit, you can make sorbet with vegetables celery, pepper, carrot and beets.
- Tea Sorbet – You can make sorbet with herbal tea, coffee or even chocolate.

We love to top our sorbet with easy ingredients. These are some of our favorites:
