DRACULA’S DENTURES

My biggest issue with Halloween food is that although it may look cool, rarely does it actually taste good.

I knew when I saw these that not only were they unique but they weremade from chocolate chip cookies and frosting, something I could totally sink my teeth into.

These took 2nd place by Lori Fillmore in the Nestle 2010 Spooktacular Baking Contest. Thanks for the creative recipe!

I host our annual Halloween Bunko party every year and I’m always looking for fun and festive Halloween recipes.

You can makeDracula’s Denturesas easy or hard as you want. You can make your own dough for the chocolate chip cookie part or buy it; make your own frosting or tint some store bought.

Have a nut allergy? Use pumpkin seeds or a slice of a white gummy candy for the fangs.

You can make any dessert a Halloween dessert by adding Edible Blood!

PrintPinRate

Prep Time: 20 minutes mins

Total Time: 20 minutes mins

Servings: 24 cookies

Ingredients

  • 1 package, (18.25 ounces refrigerated chocolate chip cookie dough or your favorite cookie recipe)
  • 1/2 cup prepared vanilla frosting, , tinted red
  • 1 3/4 cups miniature marshmallows
  • 48 slivered almonds, (see Note)

Instructions

  • Prepare cookies as directed on package or according to your favorite recipe. Cool on baking sheets for 2 minutes; remove to wire rack to cool completely. Cut each cookie in half for a total of 48 halves.

  • Frost the bottoms of all cookie halves with frosting. Place 6 marshmallow teeth around curved perimeter of 24 halves. For additional support, an additional marshmallow can be placed behind the teeth. Top with remaining 24 halves just slightly behind the marshmallows so that they show. Insert two almond slivers in between teeth for fangs. If fangs do not adhere, dip tips into frosting.

    Hey Christy,
Do you have any video tutorial of this recipe?

Hi there, these look so good, do you think if I make them the night before they’d keep well?

    • Christy Denney Reply

Yes. I think they would be fine!

Love these cookies!! But for those of us who aren’t experienced bakers, be wary of the red food dye/your fingertips. Was planning on bringing them into my office, but saw my stained fingers and could just see the sweet-loving attorneys unhappily walking into court with red dyed fingers… and hearing about it forever… a reluctant no-go from me. The ones I did put together looked terrific, though!

I made these yesterday for an office party, they were a huge hit! Our theme involved red foods, so I upped the ante with red glitter gel piped along the top “gum” which sat overnight and kind of ran down into the teeth, not as much as I wanted, but next time I might try dyed corn syrup. I didn’t have time to fuss with the fangs, they were cute/scary enough without.

      Ooh. Awesome!!

I loved your easy instructions. You might want to add that the top cookie should be placed a little behind the marshmallows. I lined the top cookie up with the bottom cookie. When I looked back at this site, I realized I shouldn’t have done that. It still looks great, but I should have set the top cookie back a little more. Thanks!

      Thanks for the tips!

These look so cute and I would love to make them for a Halloween party that our fire co. is having for the neighborhood kids. Could I freeze them without a problem?

    • Christy Denney Reply

Sure! I don’t see why not.

Hi, Adorable idea! Thanks. Do you have any ideas about what else could be used for the teeth instead of nuts (for a nut free classroom)? I saw some online with marshmallow teeth, but wondering if anyone has any other ideas.

    • Christy Denney Reply

      Marshmallow, white gummies or frosting!

Love these! We have a couple of kids at the party with nut allergies. Can you suggest something instead of the almonds?

    • Shayla G. Reply

For the person who has the nut allergic kids… I was thinking the same thing. I am going to make these too, and we also have those allergies. I’m thinking just pipe some white frosting down from the cookie, or like someone said, use pumpkin seeds. Other ideas may be to use a sliced piece of apricot dipped in white chocolate, or a slice of something like a gummy candy, or candy corn if you can find nut-free. Good luck!
